Thomson?s latest Euro-DOCSIS cable modem, the TCM390 provides to
cable operators a further improvement of its Euro-DOCSIS product-line.
The TCM390 features a Euro-DOCSIS 2.0-ready hardware and a dramatic
improvement of the throughput performance, particularly critical in small
packet transfer. Not only does the new hardware allow symmetrical data
transfer, and tripled upstream throughput, but the modem integrates
Broadcom Propane !, an advanced transport technology for DOCSIS-based
cable systems. Operating exclusively with Broadcom DOCSIS silicon,
Propane increases capacity and reduces delay by using patent-pending
efficiency and latency reduction algorithms for optimal transmission of voice
and data over broadband channel.
Enhanced with the now Thomson standard Dual-Mode feature, the TCM390 is
a versatile product which can cope with both DOCSIS and Euro-DOCSIS
standards. The Dual mode feature is ideal for operators intending to move
eventually to Euro-DOCSIS, by facilitating inventory management.
The management of the product is identical to the previous generation for a
seamless transition for the cable operators and the diagnostic of the product
offers extensive possibilities for remote troubleshooting. Thomson?s new
sleek case design is consistent throughout its new product line of WI-FI
modems and digital set top boxes.

Main Features Technical Specifications
Euro-DOCSIS Based Design - The cable modem is certified to work on
any Euro-DOCSIS based HFC cable system. Resident 2.0 hardware
enables future upgrades to advanced Euro-DOCSIS 2.0 features.
Bridging - Allows to connect two PC?s at the same time and even to route
between the Ethernet and USB port.
Router (optional) - Combined with an external hub and NAT/PAT turned
on, the cable modem features a basic router function.
NAT / PAT (optional) - Controlled by the operator, this feature, combined
with a DHCP server, allows the user to connect up to 32 IP devices using
a single IP address.
Firewall (optional) - The combination NAT/PAT and additional packet
filtering capabilities provides the cable modem with a basic firewall feature
controlled by the operator.
E-Z Start-Up Indicators - Easy-to-use LED lights on the front of the unit
show the modem status. This provides the user the ability to verify
modem operation and connectivity.
Simple-to-Use Illustrated Setup Guide - The guide steps users through
the connections of the broadband cable, electrical power, and Ethernet or
USB cables.
Security - Supports BPI+ communications privacy to support secure
data exchange between modems and cable operators? servers.
LED Administrative Disable Indicator - Helps prevent unnecessary
truck rolls.
Internal Web Pages - TCM390 web pages allow direct access to
information about the status of the modem and other important
information.
Internet Security Button - Turning the modem off puts the modem into
"standby" mode.
The modem is still on, and remains locked to the CMTS, responding to
SNMP, enabling subscribers fast and easy use when required. The button
also serves as a security feature, assuring the customer that the network
will not be accessible if the button is off, alleviating security concerns of
an "always on" connection.
Propane ! technology - This advanced transport technology
(Dynamic Payload Header Suppression) allows operators to increase the
number of subscribers on their network without investing unnecessarily in
bandwidth capacity. In the appropriate conditions, operators can benefit
from more data bandwidth per customer, more voice channels for
IP-telephony, and more users per fiber node.
Dual-Mode cable modem - The cable modem is able to work with both
Euro-DOSCIS and DOCSIS standards (if using the Euro-DOCSIS
bandwidth).
