The 955XE is clocked at 3.46GHz, with a 1066FSB and DDR2-666 3-2-2-4. It is up against the FX60 at 2.6GHz, paired with a 2x512MB Crucial Ballistix @ 2-2-2-5.
First, here is SuperPi 1M, a personal favorite of mine:
Intel Pentium D 955 EE AMD FX60 Super PI 1M 37.454 seconds 35.188 seconds.
The FX60 has a clear advantage. However, both of the CPUs are aimed at multitasking, so it wouldn't be appropriate to just stick with a single threaded test. As a simple solution, we ran 2 simultaneous runs of Super Pi 1M and picked the lower of the two scores.
Intel Pentium D 955 EE AMD FX60 2x Super PI 1M 40.484 seconds 35.813 seconds.
The FX60 gained an even stronger advantage, no doubt due to the lack bandwidth available to the EE. Now let's try a quad threaded test. No doubt this many threads will be the strong point of the EE, thanks to Hyperthreading allowing it to process 4 threads.
Intel Pentium D 955 EE AMD FX60 4x Super PI 1M 53.218 seconds 74.177 seconds.
